I woke the other morning with the lyrics of an old song by the Youngblood’s running through my head; “everybody get together, try to love one another right now.” Sitting in the dawn’s light, I began to take note of the goodness in my life; grateful for everything that has happened.
Unfortunately, thoughts of yesterday’s business, world news, and my personal missteps began to interrupt my memories. I pushed negative thoughts aside, and accepted the gift of remembering the good and forgetting the ugly.
Most of us look forward to another Thanksgiving Day. Although, I wonder why we need an official day singled out to remind us about gratitude? Have we become so inwardly focused that we forget to appreciate all the good things that happen in our lives? Do we think about problems too much or on things we don’t have, rather things that we have? Are we ignoring those who came before us?
I believe most of us have depth of gratitude; perhaps, we forget to slow down long enough and think about it. Maybe that is why a day has been singled out to remind us it’s time to get together and love one another with the spirit of appreciation.
May you have happy times with friends, family, or by yourself reflecting on the good days and all that is in front of you; and, we wish you a fabulous holiday season and a great new year!
